DescriptionPost 1 of 2 for tonight.A great two-page sequence from the recent ASM #27-30 Spider-Man vs Doc Ock story, drawn by the amazing artistic team of Ed McGuinness and Mark Farmer. I love it when you get a panel page that --- BAM!! --- sets up a big splashy reveal. Here, we see Doc Ock's mechanical arms visiting a battle weary Peter Parker, tenderly drawing the covers over his body. Then the arms traverse the sleeping city, and as they make their way onto a rooftop --- ZUH-BLAM !!! --- there's Doc Ock waiting for them. "J'accuse!!" Doc Ock decides that he has had enough of his arms betraying him (and stepping out on him), so with a big maniacal grin, he zaps his mechanical arms into submission. Later in the issue he creates some new high-tech tentacles and fully discards his older arms. But don't worry. These older arms have developed friendships and allies out in the world, and they will be back! Social/Sharing |

Hmmm, I want a set of death arms as a pet! As long as they are potty trained, of course.

Spidey sense fails Peter again. Tentacles wriggle and writhe around the rigid linework for the buildings. Even more cool in the splash using the lens curvature effect for the buildings.

I love that curvature effect too. And as of issue 6 (LGY 900) of this particular ASM volume, Doc Ock's mechanical arms have become a friend/protector to Spidey, so his Spidey sense would not be triggered by them. In fact, this special relationship really comes into play in issues 29 & 30. I'm looking forward to sharing some spectacular pages from issue 30 in particular. Watch this space!

Just a quintessential Ock shot at the right! Tentacles GOT to be obedient, right?! Congrats, Paul!

Doc Ock wishes he was even half the man his robot tentacles have proven to be. His jealousy is out of control.

Oh man, I was just going to say how much I enjoy getting the lead in panel page to a good splash page, but you mentioned it your self anyway! That's cool, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! Great stuff, man!
