DescriptionAw Vultch, Vultch, Vultch! That's right, the Vulture is up to no good once again, leading to yet another very cool sky battle with Spidey, this time in the pouring rain (I always love scenes that take place in the rain -- makes for some great inking opportunities, and Al Milgrom is a master). I love how the opening caption for the scene is "A typical evening in mid-Manhattan." Hmmm ... really? This happens all the time? Then you look at the bottom where it says "At least, typical for the Amazing Spider-Man!" Ahhhh ... okay. I also love the way Pat Olliffe draws the Vulture. I was excited to grab this title splash, because I also own the cover to this issue (see additional pic). Social/Sharing |

I really, really, LOVE the old school feel of this piece! From that vintage looking logo, to the classic Spidey arch villain. Even the drawing style is sort of retro. And those backgrounds are amazing! Great, great, splash! Congrats!

For a 99 cent title, Busiek and Oliffe brought some old school silver age goodness every month!

Ooooh, now this has a fabulous, classic look to it! A spectacular splash featuring a classic Spidey villain, and Vultch was even drawn to look Ditko-esque! The title and credit stats are also very Silver Age looking. Love it!

Amazing splash! Love the retro feel and especially the lighting with darks/lights really creating that in the rain effect. Congrats!

(LOL, John C!!) Retro city! As Eric pointed out, this is a gorgeous title splash, in that wonderful old Marvel style. I can't point to one element I like on this, because I love all of the elements. This is amazing work by Oliffe. It might be my favorite work of his. Great score, Paul! Big congrats!

Gotta love the high-flying battle perspective and using a cool Spidey signal for credits!

This is really outstanding, man. Just a killer title splash and I think one of Olliffe's best pieces. Makes me wanna go find one for myself :) The composition and perspective choice are perfect. Add to that the rain effect and the dynamic poses of both characters and you got a winning image all around. Also gotta dig that lettering up top - adds to the impact! Classic title splashes - can't beat 'em. I actually like this image more than the cover! Congrats on both!
