DescriptionHappy to add this later example to my collection. This is my second Krazy Kat Sunday, the first is a much earlier example. This hit all the right buttons for me including the use of the Herriman's later more blocky style, flying brick gag, potato chip moon, changing backgrounds, poetry and that X symbol that appears on many Sundays.Social/Sharing |

So nice! Love how Herriman spotted his blacks here. Lots of horizontal elements and a more traditional panel structure, looks like. The characters, backgrounds, inking techniques, and brick gag are wonderful

Something like this could obviously never top the quality of your Nightwing art collection, but still, since it has all the elements that make a Krazy Kat Sunday great, I believe it still deserves to be accorded much respect!

That is the Nightwing boudoir art collection and it was our little secret. What happens in Toronto stays in Toronto, right Robin...I mean Ruben...

I just can't wrap my brain around WHY you're so embarrassed by it! It's the world's greatest collection of Nightwing art and you're needlessly keeping it hidden from all of that character's fans!

A truly wonderful example Jeff, for all of the reasons you described. But you forgot to mention the wonderful elephant feet formation in the first panel. Herriman pictured them from time-to-time in the strip. They reside on the Navajo reservation in Arizona and are wonderful to see in person.

I love these 30's-era Krazy Kats and this is a GREAT example. There's never been anyone else like Herriman. Congrats Jeff.

Wow! This one has it all! Love that third brick-throwing panel! and the potato-chip Moon in panel two is classic! A stunning example of Herriman's genius!

Someday I am going to have 10% of the eye you have for artwork. I hope I am on the spry side of senility when it happens so I can enjoy it for a moment before the fog of age and infirmity takes me.
