Description

Here is a fun strip by Herriman with the lower strip featuring an early appearances of Ignaz and Krazy and a flying bricks. That has to be the biggest brick to ever hit Krazy! What makes this one all the more fun is that Krazy appears in the top strip as well which was rare. The final panel is also reminiscent of the Coconino County Jail where Ignatz passes a lot of time. The scenery and moon in that last panel also foreshadow the Krazy Kat strip that was still a few years from being on its own. These were often printed on different dates in different papers...remember this is the golden age of newspaper printing and distribution and printing was still in a relative infancy compared to even a decade later. My friend Thomas found the strips for me published on Sept 28, 1910 and Oct 28, 1910. There are likely other dates. See additional images for the published versions.

Wow, I had heard of "The Family Upstairs", but was not aware that Krazy and Ignatz already existed in print before the Krazy Kat strip was created! Shit, based on how we all evaluate mainstream aomic book art, shouldn't this daily be worth even more than the most expensive Krazy Kat Sunday?
