DescriptionSince page 8 is one of the two I’m missing from the story, we skip to page 9.Spiegle did a great job at portraying Felicity’s panic in the first panel as she is recoiling from an unseen menace. Many elements setting the emotional tone can be found in it such as her face, the menacing shadow with the claw, the tilted angle, her feet crossing over… The he continued increasing the tension with the second panel only showing us the shadow of the attacker. She tries to buy her freedom in panel 3 which is boxed in the second one to underline the sense of inescapability of her fate. The look on her face is spot on, worried but defiant. The attacker turns out not to be one after all as he seems to sympathize with her and the kitten stray situation. Spiegle chose an interesting way to show the 3 characters in this panel in a layout that is much more difficult to execute than it Iooks, making great use of the allowed space. Then we zoom in on an ugly face to contradict the kind gesture he is bestowing on the two strays. You can tell Spiegle had fun drawing him so that he is repulsive. Everything looks fluid and easy on this one, which is a testament of Spiegle’s abilities as an artist and storyteller. Social/Sharing |

Spiegle has certainly always been a great storyteller. I'm happy to note that I've been bringing bit of attention to his name ove rthe past couple of months by selecting Spiegle pieces in several of the last Show & Tell episodes I've done, including a beautiful Sgt. Rock page in last Sunday's episode with Jeff Wedding.

Snikt! This is kind of a throwback to Sekowsky good girl art with the thick ink strokes and shadows to contrast beauty and the beast!

Said it before but Spiegle can do no wrong in my book, and that includes a memorable fill-in issue of a title that was six issues away from cancellation.

Excellent description. As you said the story telling of this page is a superb example of Spiegle abilities. Nice one!
