DescriptionBack in December, the cover to issue #400 went up for auction. At the time, I was already pursuing a different cover, so I couldn’t go after both. As much as I love that anniversary issue, this splash page was the one I really wanted from the comic.I had seen it sell years ago in another auction, so I was prepared to wait months, maybe even years for it to pop up. But just a few months after the cover sold, there it was. As a longtime Ron Frenz fan, I definitely have my preferences when it comes to who inks his pencils and Brett Breeding was the perfect match. The radiant lines, the energy…it’s all there as Donald Blake transforms into the Mighty Thor. It’s one of those iconic images that’s been homage many times, but this particular version has always been one of my favorites. Social/Sharing |

That's some walking stick! An iconic splash from the 400th issue of the title, very memorable and looks like it came up at the right time for you. Awesome piece, congrats!

Powerful image! It's an image they most likely had to save and hold on to for this very milestone issue! It's got the old school flavor of Marvel house style!

No doubt that the cover and this splash are the two most memorable images from Thor #400! The pencilsand inks meshed beautifully. It's all about stylistic symbiosis. While I really dislike Breeding over Grummett because his Palmer-esque brush style buried Grummett's own style, those same inks combined beautifully with Frenz's old school Silver Age approach to penciling. Congrats on a fantastic addition, Alex!
