DescriptionTruth be told, Jim Davis only drew the published Garfield strips for a year or so. After that, he focused on writing and layouts, leaving the final published art to assistants as he managed his rapidly growing media empire of reprints, posters, coffee mugs, etc. Lately Davis has been liquidating his decades of accumulated art, with more available every week from online auction sites.Social/Sharing |

Sure, but this more polished version is what is most associated with the mass marketed legend in pop culture and what made him a worldwide phenomenon. While people want to make a distinction to make their piece more special, Jim Davis is not going to be recognized amongst the greatest artists. Each strip has its own charm and reason to connect to the audience.
