Description

A stark portrayal of the harrowing realities of war. After being pummelled by mortar rounds, the indestructable Nick Fury bum-rushes a Nazi machine gun nest, exhorting his fellow recruits: "C'mon...c'mon! If all'a that big stuff didn't stop us... we ain't about to give up 'cause of a few scrawny bullets!"

I was a big fan of Sgt. Fury and His Howlinhg Commandos when I was a kid. It was a fast paced book, with lots of camera angles. Check out that zoom in the first two panels. They also used lots of cuts. FIrst we see a soldier amazed that Fury has survived an exploding shell. Then a quick cut to Fury shaking off his confusion, them a quick cut and he's back with his commandos and they start charging the Nazi line. The book's fast pace made you feel like you were part of the action. You believed this is how war must have felt. Sgt, Fury made you believe you could be tough and heroic like him. It was a distorted view of war, but it sure sold comics. This is fantastic page from a book that was a must-read back in the day. Great pick-up, congrats!
