Description

Tigra is one of my favorite Marvel characters, so to be able to acquire a page from her 1st appearance issue, especially an origin page, makes me very very happy!

On this page, Greer Nelson (Tigra! - There she is in the 2nd panel!) tells of how she originally became The Cat through some experiments conducted on her by Dr. Tumolo. In the pages that follow, the origin story continues to explain her further transformation into Tigra.

Interestingly, she was originally able to change back and forth between her human form (always in a black bikini -- thank you, Marvel) and her cat-like form. But by issue's end, after a battle with Werewolf By Night, she has adapted completely to her new feline body and will likely always remain that way. Again, always in a black bikini.

First appearance AND origin page?!  I like your style, Paul :)  Awesome stuff, man.  I, too, like Tigra a lot.  My affinity came from the early West Coast Avengers issues drawn by Milgrom/inked by Sinnott.  Great stuff, like this!  Hey - I like cat characters ;)  Congrats, man!

I've also always loved Tigra. In this day and age, with so many collectors going after first appearance pages, it's quite a coup for you to land a page from her first appearance, soubly so since it also happens to be an origin page. Meaaaaaaooow!

I know it's creature time
But there's some art on my mind
You see, I haven't been the same
Since that experiment day
We said walls needed space
But all we found was an empty place
And the Tigra things I learned
Is that I need page desperately

So Greer I am
And can you crease Tumolo

Where do birthpage art go
Can they find their tail owned
Drawn from the Perlin arms
Origin that's waiting here
And black bikini fits you
Won't it always cup you
I look in fur stripes
And I know that you still claw, Paul P

We need more mad scientists. A regular scientist would never get this done! The powers of a tiger, and a bikini. Wow, this is a coup, Paul! Tigra origin. That's quite a get. Congrats!

Really awesome page. It is kind of funny how much of a fan I am of the squirrel.

Regarding her stuck in feline form, I have a theory..Ahem, if you were a cat and got shocked by a Loony 'Jack Russell' you might suffer psychological damage too. She stays in cat form so she can run away faster. I can tell you my hourly fee just in case you need further help. Don't get me started on Ben Grimm. Now theres a psychiatrists dream. Work for life.
