Description

What’s better than getting an original page of art from your singular favorite issue, of your favorite character, drawn by your favorite artist? Not much but getting the final page from the prior issue which begins and announces the story from your favorite issue is extremely close. Those who know me, know how much The Incredible Hulk 227 means to me, and I seek pages from the issue feverishly. When the final page to issue 226 showed up as available – I couldn’t jump quick enough. Oh, and these Joe Sinnott inks are PERFECT over Sal’s PERFECT pencils.

Know Thyself …

A great finish to issue 226 sets the stage perfectly for the all-time great issue 227. Doc Samson sees the struggle Hulk and Banner both have the with smashed Socrates statue engraving that says, “KNOW THYSELF”, and he steps in to lend his psychological services to help to find the answer to this question … as the Monster’s Analyst! The perfect setup for the upcoming perfect issue!

Alert – shameless plug #1 … still looking for pages from this story so please feel free to share any Hulk 227 pages that you are aware of. This Hulk fan will greatly appreciate it!

Plug #2 – care to see more of the story? Check this link for more pages from issue 227

An impassioned Hulk soliloquy right out of Shakespeare!  He finds the humanity within by holding the Socrates head.  It's as epic as when Bill and Ted first met Socrates.

Shakespeare and Bill and Ted's in the same comment? Only from the CAF commenting genius of Marcus. Thanks!

You've got a Hulk transformation, Doc Samson and Socrates all on the same page!  What could be better than that?

Thanks Dino! You know it has to be a personal favorite when I don't even talk about the great transformation scene in my write up, talk about a bonus!

Don't trust him Bruce. Mowgli trusted Kaa and look how that almost turned out.

Very cool Incrtedible Hulk page! Love the transformation scene with Hulk gradually turning back into Bruce Banner! Pages with these transformations come up so rarely that any time you can grab one you know you've got a winner. And then add in the fact that this page sets up your favorite Hulk issue of all time, and you know you've scored big time! Congratulations on a fabulous pick-up!

Man, this is awesome.  What a top to bottom page...those transitions...and the Doc Samson cliffhanger previewing next issue!  We know the Doc had...mixed results helping Banner/Hulk know himself :)  How cool is it that the classic Socrates phrase caused a Hulk-to-Banner transformation!  Congrats, man!

That's the closest you can get to 227 without actually getting there.  Congrats on another great page, Sal's Hulk is without equal.

Needless to say, love the art - Sal inked by Joe is Hulk perfection! And it's a great story page to boot! Hulk is beaten by Socrates, holy moly!

I would venture to add an answer to Big Green's agonised question, though - one which dyed-in-the-wool Hulkophiles will be rather familiar with (say it with me, gang...) 'How can Hulk know Hulk? HULK IS HULK!'
