DescriptionJohn Buscema was made to draw gruff characters: Conan, Wolverine, Fury, and of course the Punisher. His facial expressions convey heaps of emotion with delicate brush strokes and nuanced lines. Often "over inked" throughout his Marvel career (in my opinion, to each their own), it's refreshing to see his genius shine through from start to finish. In this title page his use of blacks and big old gambling lights frame the rogue lineup nicely. Your eye moves from face to face as they all watch the dice. Frank is looking...not pleased. Just how he should.Social/Sharing |

Brilliant angle choice from Big John. Pulls us right in to the scene with a splash full of story and motion around the stoic anti-hero.

All the great shady types are at the table. It could be Matches Malone or Sean Connery at the table. Frank does stand out as he's not in any formal wear. Whether it's in an alley or at a fancy table, it's all just a dice game of chance and luck.

Love the perspective and the dice rolling out of the framed shot is a smart choice. Each characters face makes you pause and wonder what their story is.
No need to wonder about Frank though.

Buscema late 80's and 90's work is probably my favorite by him. His Wolverine run and Punisher had so much grit and are basically modern day Conan. Great splash page.

Fantastic Buscema page, it's great to see him inking over himself, and this title splash has almost a Bond movie feeling to it. Very cool!
