DescriptionFollowing up my previous post with a two-page sequence from Guy Colwell's In Fox's Forest showcasing his versatility as an artist and storyteller.Synopsis: After a successful hunt with his mate, a male fox is captured by the “two leggers” and thrust into captivity. There, he faces dangers more insidious than the simple eat-or-be-eaten laws of the forest: complacency, fear of the unknown, pack mentality, and loss of identity. As with most of Colwell's work (Doll, Inner City Romance), the themes of his stories resonate beyond this plot synopsis. Colwell and I live in the same city so when I saw he was offering these pages, I reached out and he hand-delivered them along with some of his other pieces dealing with the natural and animal worlds. Wow, really attractive pages here. How fun that Colwell actually delivered them to you in person!

Thanks, Ruben. Yeah, very nice guy. He's currently working on what he says is his final graphic novel (final because he sees himself more as a painter than a comics guy 🤷♂️).

Well, I guess you can't really blame artists for doing whatever it is they want to do. At least you got yourself a few cool pieces of his comics illustration!

Look for the bear necessities, the Colwell bear necessities
Forget about fox furrys and wildlife
I mean the bear in their cities, old mother nature's enemies
That bring the bear captivity his life

Love the contrast and the characters just pop off the page with the technique used. Really like this one.

Fun pages from Guy Colwell. I love the clean lines of the art and the fantastic nature of the animals. I'm not familiar with "In Fox's Forest" but this intrigues me enough to check it out. Thanks for sharing!
