("Great Lakes Avengers Assemble?!")

This is the Original Art for the Cover of WEST COAST AVENGERS #46 (July 1989) featuring the 1st Appearance of the GREAT LAKES AVENGERS: Big Bertha, Dinah Soar, Doorman, Flatman and Mr. Immortal. This Cover was penciled and inked by John Byrne. (NOTE: This Cover was drawn on DC Comics Cover stock). In 2005, the Great Lakes Avengers starred in their own 4-issue mini-series GLA: GREAT LAKES AVENGERS.

UPDATE: How cool is this?!? The Aug. 31, 2009 issue of TIME Magazine ranked THE GREAT LAKES AVENGERS #5 (of 10) on their list of the Top 10 ODDEST Marvel Characters! This is the complete list:

I looooove this cover Fred...the first appearance of Flatman, a comic character I play (voice-over) on the cartoon "Marvel Super Hero Squad"...!!! Not for sale? NOT FOR SALE?!?!?! What, now that I bring fame and fortune to the character of Flatman, you decide to gobble-up all the original Flatman artwork in anticipation of a price boom from speculators awaiting the "Flatman: the Movie" high-budget summer blockbuster film??? Hmmm...smart move...I'd better call my agent...
