Description

Continuing to explore the far corners of the DCU.

Green Flame and Ice Maiden formerly of the Global Guardians, now better known as Fire and Ice of the Justice League.

In 1987 when Giffen & DeMatteis were writing the Justice League they introduced these little known characters to a much larger audience. Fire and Ice were former members of the Global Guardians (who? exactly!) an international group of super-heroes. Fire and Ice grew in popularity and really exploded when Adam Hughes started penciling the title. Adam was becoming known for drawing women and these two were the first he left his mark on (before moving on to Ghost, Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Zatanna...etc).

1989 was a good year for Adam Hughes sketches, this is the third 1989 sketch I've bought. I have a Green Lantern here, and a Guy Gardner vs Batman here.

I have more Hughes pieces than I thought. Just for kicks I also have a Hughes Captain America and a cool corner box art of Flash and Power Girl.

A very nice early sketch of beautiful women from the world renowned GGA. A little brown along the edges but otherwise in good shape.

Even early on Adam Hughes' sense of humor shows off their playful personalities in a pin up about their team dynamic! Hot 80's fashions in hairstyles and clothing choices that accentuates their figures!

Well, well, well, Monday morning and you post this Hughes vintage GGA piece. I wonder what prompted this?! This is a great example of his early work, demonstrating not only that he had the chops to become the preemminent GGA artist in the industry, but also the sense of humor he would go on to infuse into so many of his drawings!
