DescriptionI’ve always loved the design of Gunslinger Spawn, just a great blend of old west & Spawn elements. When it was announced that Brett Booth would be pencilling the ongoing Gunslinger book I knew I’d be going after a page. It took a few issues but I found the perfect page for my collection. It’s a great “hero shot” page but also has some other visual storytelling elements that I love. It reminds me of the spaghetti westerns that I love so much. It has a mix of super close & wide shots of Gunslinger as he waits for his enemies to meet him for a showdown. I wanted a page that wasn’t necessarily so story focused but was just had great visuals. This one fit that bill perfectly for me. I do tend to gravitate towards pages with a splashy image coupled with some storytelling panels. Feels like the best of both worlds when it comes to art collecting.I have also really loved the pairing of Brett’s pencils with Adelso’s inks, which have enhanced the already incredibly energetic nature of Brett’s pencils nicely! Big thanks to Adelso for helping me get this one into its new home. Always love being able purchase art directly from a creator. Social/Sharing |

He needs his own entrance music and theme with how much Booth places him into the pastiche of the modern spaghetti western while pushing its limits into horror and action.

Agreed, it has the quiet wide shot with the wind blowing and the tall grass rustling...off in the distance, dust kicking up signaling the approaching foes. All that's missing is that theme song to complete the scene, but the fact that we can almost hear that music speaks to the storytelling skill on display here!

Fabulous page by Brett Booth!
Love the energy that he can convey even when it's just a standing tall "hero pose."

For me, it's a toss up between Medieval Spawn (older 90's look, not so much its latest incarnation) & Gunslinger, not really a competition as both touch on different historical periods that I personally find incredibly intriguing.

Thanks! Yeah, I love that kind of "standing tall" moment in preparation for battle central panel! I really love a good splashy image surrounded by other storytelling panels. Always the kinds of pages I seem to gravitate towards.
