Description

REK-RAP's origin story continues with this, the second of TWO pages I am posting tonight. Please check out the other one as well!

Last night I posted the 1st appearance splash of REK-RAP, a new Bizarro Spider-Man character created by Ed McGuinness.

On the first origin page I posted, we were introduced to "Parker-Man," one of the demons in Limbo where Peter and his friends are currently imprisoned (courtesy of Chasm).

Parker-Man has decided that he wants to be a hero, but in Limbo, this is considered backwards thinking, as the whole purpose of demons is to cause misery.

On this page, the dejected hero-demon has decided to accept the help of an alchemist demon who bonds Parker-Man's Spidey T-shirt with a symbiote.

The resulting 'symbiote spidey suit' begins to engulf the little demon guy, who complains about how this is all backwards. He's supposed to put clothes ON, not have the clothes put HIM on. But his protests dissolve into hysterical laughter as the page ends in mid-transformation.

We don't see the character again until the last page where he is revealed in all his glory as the backwards Bizarro Spider-Man character called REK-RAP!!

More Rek-Rap to come!!

Rek-Rap & Parker-Man we're a fun read, I sincerely hope there is a Spider-Man/Deadpool, buddy movie style, spin-off in the works.  Congrats on picking them up!

Thanks for the comment and the congrats!  I agree -- ASM 17 and ASM 18 were such a fun read because of these new colorful characters brought to life by Ed McGuinness, Cliff Rathburn and Zeb Wells.  AND I have it on good authority that Rek-Rap will be returning in the future.  Let's hope so anyway.

Wow, this might be the crowning page of Rek-Rap! Is the last page splash his birth page, or does he first transform and get revealed on the page after this? We need more Rek-Rap!

Actually, the last panel of this page is the last we see of Rek-Rap for four pages.  His hand and forearm are shown in one panel on the second-to-last page of the issue, and then we get that glorious full body reveal on the end page splash that I posted last night. So yeah, an argument could be made that this transformation sequence is his birth page, though we don't see him in all his glory til the end.  Regardless, I promise that there will be more Rek-Rap on my CAF!!

He can do it too!!  He'll just do it in a weird & hilarious backwards manner.

I clearly need to start reading the Spidey books again if this is the type of stories they're telling.  Pure awesomeness!!!

Cool introduction to this character. I'll have to check out this storyline. I'm guessing Rek-Rap's last name is Retep and has an anti-girlfriend named Nos-Taw :)

We even get a Yakov Smirnoff joke? Icing on the cake. This page is really excellent, btw. Looking past the humor, what a composition! Dig every bit of this transformation page. That last series of panels floated over the finishing transformation? Top notch. REK-RAP!

Let's count off from 6, with a word that pops to mind for the accompanied page!

1 of 6 - the letter "R", for reverse.  Clothes putting him on :)
