DescriptionI recently re-read Claremont and Silvestri's full run on Uncanny X-Men and man, it's so good. Many iconic X-Men moments and team combinations, classic Claremont characterization, and moments of triumph and tragedy; and on top of all of that, Silvestri's art is spectacular. His linework is effortless and organic, his characters are alive, and his action is dynamic and kinetic. Really, really expressive art.This page is part of a storyline where Storm--after three to four years of leading the X-Men while powerless--finally regains her weather powers while going on a kind of vision-quest with Forge (hence her Native American garb). While in my opinion Dan Green was Silvestri's best inker, Bob Wiacek does a nice job here. But what I might love most about this page are Claremont's words: Storm's valiant battle-cry, and the closing dramatic caption--"It's a magnificent effort... but it isn't enough." Social/Sharing |

The ending words are poetic. Even Storm at her most hard edge may not be enough this time. Silvestri and Wiacek pull out all the stops to match the script to show her valiant effort.

Agree 100% with everything you say in your description. Silvestri is an amazing artist. People tend to remember his beutiful women and action scenes, but his storytelling is impeccable. Funny I would have said inks on this page were Green's. Definitely good job by Wiacek here. Great example!

Phenomenal action-packed Uncanny X-Men page by Marc Silvestri and Bob Wiacek! I love the energy that Silvestri packs into every panel. The whole page feels very kinetic. Wiacek manages to match that energy with a terrific inking job that retains the freshness of Silverstri's pencils and loses none of the electricity. Fantastic pick-up!
