Since it's now "Shocktober" it feels like the right time to post some pieces from artists who incorporate horror and horror-adjacent themes (the grotesque, the erotic) into their work.

First artist up is Corinne Halbert, whom I bought a painting from in the early part of the year and recently met in person at the Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival. Halbert describes herself on social media as a "Psychedelic horror artist obsessed with 1970s cult films and vintage comics." As these are things I'm also interested in, particularly at this time of year, I knew I had to buy this painting when Corinne offered it up for sale. Since then, she has used this image for a sticker and limited-edition print she sells on her site.

As far as comics go, Corinne Halbert is also the creator of Acid Nun, which collectors who respond to this painting should check out.

A love letter to Dario Argento! The eyes are such standout part of the suspense as they are always lined up with sharp objects! Halbert uses outstanding colorwork to evoke his horror movies.
