Posting my first piece to this gallery on the day after Keith's passing, I feel compelled to post my own obit written for him, so here goes:

R.I.P. KEITH GIFFEN WRITER, ARTIST AND CURMUDGEON! 1952-2023

In the words of Keith Giffen himself:

And with that comedic epitaph, Keith Giffen left this world the way he always wanted to--with a joke. Keith Giffen, creator of Lobo, Ambush Bug and Rocket Raccoon, passed away on Monday October 10, 2023 from a stroke. We will not see anyone like him again. Keith was loved and respected by his peers and countless millions of fans for his writing, his art and, most importantly, his hilarious sense of humor, which some found offensive, but which I loved. The Keith I remember was the one I used to hang out with at cons when we would make fun of the cosplayers and insult each other. You were one in a million, my friend. Keith, we all miss you and love you. Thanks for everything.

You can feel every moment of anguish on Sandman when he points out he's being replaced with Morpheus. Giffen's humor and artistry stood out from anything else out there as he confidently carved out his own path.
