William J. Costello said:
I see Jerry every year at TerrifiCon and I gave him Issue #1 of Mark Waid's "New History of the DC Universe" to sign. He didn't mention to me he had some of the pages with him. I've never seen him bring any published art with him to TerrifiCon. ![]() I know what you mean. He usually brings some pre-done sketches and sketch covers, but never any published pages. And I never ask because I know how reluctant he is to sell his published art. This was a completely unexpected and wonderful surprise. That's why I bought 2 of them. If you can get in touch with Jerry, he still has about 8 pages left from the book. |

Holy shit, bro, you REALLY scored due to that nagging collector! Another splendiferous Ordway splash, unbelievable! ![]() Thank you, sir! Ruben, this was clearly a case of being at the right place at the right time. And having a friend alert me to the fact that Jerry was selling these pages. I would never have known otherwise because Jerry did not put them out on his table. At the end of the show on Sunday, I expressed surprise to Jerry that he hadn't sold out of these pages. He said it was because he never promoted them and was so busy with signatures and sketches that he never put them on the table. So, only folks who aksed if he had art for sale would even know. |

Wow, this is GORGEOUS! What an absolutely incredible JSA score! Very surprising that you got it directly from Jerry, indeed! Did he bring a little stack with him? I assume he only brought other more recent pages? ![]() Ruben, he did bring a small stack, but only the pages he drew from New History of the DC Universe. He said another collector had been bugging him about these pages so, on a whim, he brought all the pages he drew for the book. No others, though. |

Action Comics Annual #3 p.45 - Superman vs Guy Gardner! Owner: Ruben DaCollector Comment posted on 7/15/2025 Great Superman Vs. Guy Gardner page! With the 6 panel format and the close-ups of their faces, you can really feel the tension between the two fo them. And, I have to admit, I am surprised to see you post a Tom Grummett page. You really don't have him represented very well in your collection and I feel you should add more Grummett pages in the future. :-) |

A friend commented elsewhere that although Penguin took off her clothes, he left on her blonde wig. ![]() Good observation! Supergirl's face in panel 5 just makes you feel happy. One of my favorite things about Weiss's work. Atom and Flash were pretty crummy to her. I didn't like that. ![]() Yeah, I thought that was out of character for Flash and Atom. Did not like that, either. I also partly attribute it to the attitudes towards women in the 1970's. |

Alan Weiss is one of my favorites. I love his style. I first encountered his work on ASM #209. Kraven the Hunter and the first Calypso appearance. These pages are wonderful, but I've look everywhere in your gallery and hate to ask, what happened to page 1? ![]() As you can tell, I also love Alan's work. As to the page 1 splash, I sold it to another collector, CAF member bronze-is-gold. I had anothe piece that I wanted and, even after the sale, would still have 4 pages from Weiss's Super Team Family # 11. So, win, win. |

Okay, now you're really just showing off, Steve! Man, this is simply sublime. If any aspiring (or even already pro) artist wants to study how to draw the female form in an exquisite manner, they need look no further than this page and the previous one you posted. Giordano is a legend! ![]() LOL, thanks Ruben! I still stare at this page in my office every day and haven't grown tired of it yet. And, I should have posted this long ago, but just got around to it now. Dick Giordano was one of my favorite artists and I was privileged to live only 4 hours from him and was able to visit him frequently. I bought this on one of my visits about 17 years ago. So, it took me this long to show it off! And I couldn't agree with you more--Giordano IS a legend. |

Ruben DaCollector said:
An incredible example of Giordano's ability to illustrate astonishingly beautiful women! Have you held the page up to a light to try to determine why all the Jonni Thunder images are paste-overs? ![]() Ruben, I don't need to do that. I bought many pages from Dick over the years, Jonni pages included. (He lived 4 hours away from me in Palm Coast, Florida.) Most of the Jonni pages had the color hold art on vellum overlays since there was no computer technology for that in 1985. I remember there were about 6 or 7 pages that had the photostats on them AND came wit the overlay as well. Why? I have no idea. Maybe they were trying something new? Your guess is as good as mine. |

Ruben DaCollector said:
Cool! In 2012 at the end of the Chicago Con, someone came by to pay for a Skottie Young commission at the table next to mine, but Skottie had already left. I told him he could leave the commission with me and I'd collect the cash when the commissioner passed by and then send Skottie the money after I got back home from the con, which I then proceeded to do. I got a simple "thanks" by email. Of course, I genuinely just wanted to help Skottie out by making sure he got paid, even though he chose to leave early. I had no designs on getting anything out of him for the favour. But thatjustgoesto showhowmuchyou should appreciate it when an artist DOES go out of their way to show you they appreciated the help you gave them. Nice sketch! ![]() Could not agree more, Ruben. I had zero expectations of any kind of compensation; just wanted to help out an artist. One part of the story that I left out (and will add after I type it here) is that after i took the commission, Stephane asked me who is my favorite character. I told him Batgirl and he said to come back in an hour or so. At that point, I thought he would either do a quick sketch or give me a free signed print. Was happily surprised to see this when I came back to his booth later. And, yes, I apprecaite the gesture immensely. |

Back in 2000, Kerry told me he barely had any of his art left. Funny how a full quarter of a century later, he still continues to have a few of those remaining gems in his possession! ![]() Actually, Ruben, Kerry indicated to me that these pages represent the LAST of the pages he is willing to part with. He hinted that he still has a few pages left for himself, but these are the last he is willing to sell. Ken Carson at 4C Comics does have more pages and prelims, so you may want to contact him if you are interested. |
