Description

Extremely rare limited edition of late Drew Posada "8 Ball", 2001 featuring the beautiful model Aria Giovanni. This is a rare GICLEE 8/100 (the 8 for 8 Ball) on Heavy Rag paper as seen in "The Art of Drew Posada" well documented on page 38. This one happens to be #8 for a special collector and was dated personally Feb 14, 2002. Sadly the art world lost a great talent in 2007. Drew Posada was a pioneering digital colourists and his rich, exotically themed pin-up art reflected his earlier comic book work. Giclee is approx 22" x 32". This was a commission of Robert Bane. It was loved and popular a similar image was then later commissioned by Kevin Eastman called "Queen of Pain" and became a cover for Heavy Metal Magazine in September 2002! It was so loved by Drew he recreated 8 Ball as "Vampirella"' which became a print. This is the FIRST and nude version of Aria. (Also see other Drew listings with original drawings for "High Heels" and "Queen's Knight."

His passion and drive to continually improve, and do better was obvious from the very start. I have now had the pleasure of seeing his work evolve, and watch him develop his style and technique, which is his own identity. I do not believe there is another Artist today who can create such realistic images like Drew Posada can do within the use of his imagination, an airbrush on a computer. In the 21st-century one must realize that Art will, and must continue to evolve taking many twists and turns with young Artist developing new styles and innovative techniques, keeping up with the constant changes, our society and technology. I believe Drew Posada is an innovator, a true talent leading the way for young and talented artist, and future generations to follow his path." Robert Bane.

Boy was he right....We are caught in the digital wave now. Also Mr. Bane has stated these extremely expensive giclee artworks were printed ONLY on demand he therefore does not believe ANY of the editions went beyond 15. Some much less. So there are probably no more that about 15 in existence. Of those he doesn't know if any other were remarqued of this edition. Email me for best images.

These limited editions sold over 20 years ago in the $1500-2000 range. I am open to offers as I am moving some art from an estate. I have a few more to list contact me if interested. NEVER framed. Drew has publicly stated Olivia De Berardinis and Sorayama as influences. He was an amazing colorist.

"In 1994 I was flown down from Seattle to San Diego to try out for a job as an illustrator at Image Comics. They hired me immediately and I worked for quite a few studios within Image; Top Cow, Wildstorm and Extreme. This is where I learned how to paint in Photoshop. It worked exactly like a real airbrush and was a lot easier to make changes to my pinups. I started showing submissions to the Tamara Bane Gallery in 1996, but I still needed to raise the calibre on my work. I kept trying until I finally thought I had it down, and the rest is history."
