Description

"Film Fun" 1-ager, from Bijou Funnies #7 (Kitchen Sink Press, 1972).
Ink and white watercolor over graphite, with varied textures of Zipatone shading film, on Crescent illustration board. Image area: 11" x 16.55" (28 x 40.6 cm).
Williamson parodies Hollywood-style Art Deco glamour in this grim vignette about a sinister intruder, bent upon committing homicidal mayhem. Also published in a solo Williamson book, Snappy Sammy Smoot (1979).
Originally from the Eric Sack Collection before a quick passage in my very good friend DC's home.

The undergroud comix took a dark turn after disillusionment set in the 60's heading to a more cynical and less idealisitc decade. From this page, this murderous guy could just show up anywhere and take home some trophies!
