DescriptionOne of my recent acquisitions includes this wonderful page penciled and inked by cosmic master, Jim Starlin. While being a great Supreme page from the Alan Moore run on the book, it also has some really cool Easter eggs for comic fans. I always love when an artist does cool stuff this; adding little Easter eggs that no one knows about and readers later stumble upon. The first image is just the page itself and in the additional image, I outlined, in red, all the unexpected guest stars to populate the background of this bar scene. In the first panel we see Jim's own creations Vanth Dreadstar, Syzygy Darklock, Willow, Rainbow and Skeevo. On the bottom panel is Breed, Oedi (also from Dreadstar), Superman and the top of Batman's head. I suspect that the gorilla in the right corner of Panel 1 and Panel 2 is also a Starlin character but cannot identify him. If anyone recognizes him, please let me know. Social/Sharing |

Cool page! Love all the Easter eggs. I believe the gorilla looking guy is Za from Metamorphosis Odyssey.

By the way, the guy next to Oedi looks like Dr. Delphi, also from Dreadstar.

Starlin worked with Alan Moore? Anything goes in the new and wild world of 90's Image. This might be what inspired the way Moore worked in so many easter eggs in his Top 10 work later on.

When you see the textless art and texted, it shows the challenge of aesthetic speech bubble placement, without obscuring anything important.
