DescriptionThis page comes from the Rose and the Thorn backup story in Lois Lane #116, published by DC Comics in 1971. This story has a lot going on, including a disgruntled sculptor that is the spitting image of artist Dick Giordano, Poison Ivy teamed up with the criminal organization "The 100," and an alien computer called K.A.R.L. that is used by Ivy to devise a way to kill the Thorn. The sculptor encases the Thorn in a quick hardening mold, which the 100 then tosses into the river. But the Thorn has a way with men and machines. The sculptor is enamored with his creation and gets shot. The computer is enamored with it, too, and gets tossed into the river, which proves to be the Thorn's salvation. While the story was a bit hokey, it is actually one of the few times the Thorn came close to getting killed during this series. Giordano's artwork is great and I like the layout of this page, which has a little Poison Ivy and Thorn on it.Social/Sharing |
