Description

This past weekend at Lexington Comic & Toy Show, I was finally able to meet one of my favorite artists from the 1980's, Sandy Plunkett! In the short time Sandy was in the comics industry, he produced a relatively small amount of published comic book work. But he more than made up for it with the lush, illustrative quality of his work. Here is a Buck Rogers commission prelim I bought from him. And if the prelim is this good, I imagine the finished piece is just stunning.

Great pick-up, Steve! Plunkett’s work has always had such a beautifully refined, illustrative quality, and even in prelim form, you can see his mastery of composition and detail. His approach to Buck Rogers brings a perfect blend of classic pulp adventure and his signature elegance. If this prelim is any indication, the final piece must be absolutely breathtaking!

Very hard to acquire with his slow output from being such a perfectionist. The vellum paper is so his lush inks can be even more precise and controlled. Because of his pace, sometimes this is it and it's not really a prelim anymore, but the finished work.

Phenomenal piece for The Man Out Of Time. This work is wonderful. The background is extreme yet managed and the I can't say enough. Love it. Congrats.
