Great era of painted covers! Steacy had the airbrush skills that made the anime classics look shiny and new. In many cases, like this cover, it looks even better than a cel from the show.

Why does Astro Boy have that solemn look though? I would think the candlelight glow highlighting a robo-cricket would make him happy! Either way, Ken Steacy’s colors and lighting technique make this thing pop. A definite a gem from ‘87!
