DescriptionThis measures a whopping 24x36” and drawn edge to edge. Cap is over 20 inches tall! Most of my non-comic reading friends are most impressed with this piece, over anything else I have. Yes, size matters.A recreation of the 1976 Marvel Bicentennial Calendar illustration, sans the colonial ship. Full Starlin pencils and very tight Weiss inks. Alan felt that this piece eclipsed the original. Not sure about that, but I like it very much. Recreations are generally not my thing; to my eyes, they can sometimes appear a little flat and lifeless. But I think this piece avoided that. Social/Sharing |

What a monster! What a piece! Congrats. And agreed, large art just glistens with authority.

Stellar piece - Starling and Weiss have given this their all; you couldn't hope for better. The background also does a great job of pushing the figures forwards and making them pop.
Absolutely first class commission!

I'm not a big recreations guy either, but this one is just stunningly cool. Getting rid of the Mayflower (or whatever ship it was) makes the image 100% nicer, too. Well done engaging Alan Weiss to revisit the inks, too... respect!

Starlin inked by Weiss is a great team. Weiss adds that touch of fine line precision to Starlin. Beautifully done. The space background is stunning going far beyond Kirby Crackle. That background, whew!
