I love Kirby's art for his 2nd stint at Marvel.  His use of blacks is so powerful and expressionistic. Forget the coloring, incredible in b&w.

May be Starlin's as well; I saw a copy of it pinned near his drawing board in a video. No other vintage art around.  

Love how the establishing shot draws you in with the black shadows directing you to the walking figures.  And of course the close up of Axa and the slice through the water is genius, you don't even realize you are being tricked by this effect because the brontosaurai are so engaging.  

An exceptional page, so well designed.  I can see why it was featured on the cover.

Cool DPS!  In case you didn't notice, the "scum" crawling out of the bar is Fixx from Dreadstar.  Nice little Easter egg.

I believe this is a prelim.  It's a complicated design and probably required some planning.   I've seen the finished inked piece and it has visible pencils on it.  But still very cool!

Fantastic painting! Starlin was/is an awesome and underrated painter.  I like his painted art as much as his line work, wish he kept painting, but that scarcity makes pieces like this even more desirable.
