DescriptionIn recognition of the current Zoop crowdfunding campaign for the 'Breed Omnibus, here is my favorite piece of Starlin ‘Breed art.Support one of comics' best and most unique creators in getting this omnibus realized. If you are unfamiliar with ‘Breed, the story was published as 3 limited series in 1994, 1995 and 2011. The story begins as a horror story but ends, in grand Starlin fashion, as an epic cosmic battle also featuring Dreadstar, Oedi, Darklon the Mystic, Wyrd and Kid Kosmos. One of Jim's very best stories and cited in the Zoop campaign as the author's favorite. I think this example is the strongest published (non-painted) illustration Starlin did in the 90s, measuring a whopping 28x22", area-wise over 3x a standard cover! And was a most welcome addition to my beloved Captain Morgan collection. Social/Sharing |

Thanks, Mr. Bedwick! I believe I read he had recently moved to the Catskills during that time. All that beautiful scenery must have inspired his backgrounds, those amazing trees, grass and rocks. The grass especially reminds me of the late, great Bernie Wrightson, perhaps not coincidentally, a friend and neighbor.

Very memorable as the poster was in every comic store! The large mass of black was a very bold move in character design in an age of pouches.

Yes! I love the character design with the black leather trenchcoat. Of course, the character always seemed ready to pull a McConaughey and go shirtless, and pimp his guns.

Wow- just wow- on the art. I wasn't aware of the kickstarter and I need his/her info. What a great job making this look like new.

Thanks Kirk! Not a Kickstarter but a Zoop campaign. The link, orange colored, is in my description above. I will email you info on the conservator.
