Description

The Tale of Zatoichi (1962) is the first of 26 Zatoichi films starring Shintaro Katsu as the Blind Swordsman in Japan�s longest running film series.

This illustration is the cover art to the Criterion Collection DVD and is also featured in the Criterion Collection book for the Zatoichi DVD box set.

�The Tale of Zatoichi is a 1962 Japanese chanbara film directed by Kenji Misumi and based on the 1948 essay of the same name by Kan Shimozawa. It is the first installment in a long-running jidaigeki film series starring Shintaro Katsu as the blind swordsman Zatoichi.�

So cool they used this for the collection cover - definintely worthy! Those brush strokes with that lighting...sublime stuff. Congrats!
