DescriptionAn Amateur Dueling Dealer special via Matt Kennedy!I loved everything about Joss Whedon and John Cassady's launch and run on this book. The dialog was sharp and the art just classic touches of Cassaday. Kitty's return to the team, the resurrection of Colossus and an overall reset to the spandex aesthetic after Morrisson's equally classic run was a breath of fresh air. Colossus riding the Blackbird into battle was a "WHOA" moment to kick off this second arc. Love having the title to the story smack dab in the middle here too. When this popped up on DD, I immediately sat up. When it got to a price-point I was semi-comfortable with, the FOMO kicked in hard. The story obviously ended with me holding beauty in my hands so all's well that ended well :) Social/Sharing |

So DANGEROUS! Although Colossus seems perfectly at ease up there. Nothin' like some Mach 3 surfing to start the week.

I mean if you're going into battle, shouldn't everyone bring a tin man riding a supersonic jet like a bronco?

Oh yes! I agree, man - the Whedon/Cassaday run was next level stuff. So much added to the mythos of the X folk. Great example you got here with everyone looking a little shook as they get where they're going. Well, maybe not the tin man :) DANGEROUS right through the middle - love it. Congrats!

Ah, semi-comfortable. We have all used that one, as our wallets or credit cards weep. I was tempted to get this, once a sale I am going to do went through. Lovely art.

Thanks, man! Yeah there are occasionally some diamonds in the rough. The amateur editions in particular bring out some real gems.

Love Cassaday's sleek and recognizable style! Great DPS. I feel like this piece needs a DANGEROUS soundtrack. Where is Kavi when we need him?

I'm lame so the first thoughts were Michael Jackson and Roxette. Let's go with Mikey (sorry in advance, Marcus):
She's so dangerous
The girl is so dangerous
Take away my money
Throw away my time
You can call me honey
But you're no damn good for me

Totally agree and this run has to be some of my favorite Cassaday art. Is this a Teen Wolf knod to the van-surfing?
Until Kavi gets here queue BIG DATA "DANGEROUS"!

Yes! That's exactly what I have in my mind too...
🎵 "I bet you didn't know that I was dangerousss" 🎵
🎶 "Keep on running" 🎶
The Michael Jackson beat to this scene would also be pretty badass. I don't remember the words to that one, but who needs 'em when you've got a killer beat.

As He talked through Cassaday in the tourney of death
I take a look at my bank, and realize there's nothin' left
'Cause I've been claimin’ and laughin' so long
That even Ms Madea thinks that my mind is gone
But I ain't never swept a leg that didn't deserve it
Miyagied like a punk, you know that's unheard of
You better Joss how you talkin' and Whedon walkin'
Or you and your X-homies might be lined in chalk
I Kitty Kate to trip, but I gotta loc
As a joke, I see myself a Rasputin’ bloke
Fool, Matt’s the kinda G the little muties wanna surf like
Wolverine in the flight, bein’ a player in Monday Night
Been spendin' most my funds livin' in the Eranga’s paradise
Been claimin' most the art duelin' in the Eranga’s paradise
Keep mememin' most our lives Billigin Cobra Kai’s paradise
Recappin' most our rounds pricin' into Eranga’s paradise

I made an audible grunt when Matt showed this piece. Then I ran downstairs to eyeball my Cassaday stuff and convince myself I didn't need to buy this.
Cassaday firing on all 8 here. The type treatment for the title page really distinguishes this.

Hahaha I would've had the same reaction but don't own any Cassaday and this one kinda fit the bill perfectly. Just need a good Planetary representation and I can close that chapter :)
The type on this page serves the scene transition so well. Cinematic in the best sense. Here's your wide screen opening scene, then BOOM. Quick-cut to the title. Then BOOM. Quick-cut to talking heads.

Who needs a sissy, shiny surfboard? This OG X-Men gets stoaked catching air pockets on a MFing Blackbird! He's about to hang ten knuckles to somebody's face!

Whoa, whoa, whoa!
A sissy shiny surfboard? Hmm, time to make fun of what James collects....what the fuck does James collect?
Eranga this is awesome! I wanted to write something creative, but I can only do that if I comment before Marcus, not after. Now I have to queue up Weird Al and listen to Amish Paradise the rest of the night.

I feel like James made an unwarranted personal attack, bro. He could've just said "who needs a surf board". But no...he chose to go flamethrower. Why can't we all just get along?
Until this post, I had no idea how many tunes tied into "Dangerous". And every one of them has been running through my head all day thanks to the comments!

Mannnnnn...I'm with you on that. I'm actually still enjoying the main X-book but the overall universe is starting to feel a little grim. This run by Whedon and Cassaday was just FUN. No chance we ever get Whedon back (reasons redacted) but another Cassaday run would be welcomed with open arms!

Let's get Kurt Busiek or Roger Stern to write Cassaday's return to the title for some old school super powered fun. Now we just need to figure out how to become Disney executives with the power to make it happen.

I'd bet you dollars to donuts that Wolvie's kicking the seat in front of him. Oh, yeah, I remember this Cassaday DPS really well. It's one of my favorites from his run. And I so dig how much he conveys through expressions and looks. Such great visual storytelling. Cowabunga, dude. Congrats!

Such an epic piece and I share the love. It's gorgeous and a wonderful representative piece for a truly ASTONISHING series of X-Men adventures. Love seeing this piece here, I saw it somewhere at some point and love knowing its now safe in hands like yours. Congrats!

Yes!! Serious congrats, Eranga - this is spectacular. What nails it for me is what a great testament it is to the compositional and design skills of Mr. Cassaday. Lettering for the rest of the series was done with computers, of course, but it played such a crucial part to the layout of this spread that John incorporated it right in. And it looks GREAT. The viewer's eye is incapable of resisting the almost magnetic force with which it is drawn up the page, through the bottom tier of panels featuring our heroes (who seem more worried about Peter's return and what it means in the context of the adventure, than happy or relieved), through the lettering, over the Blackbird hull (gorgeously tilted a bit), and landing squarely on the man of the hour. It's only natural to want to take a bit of a ride and feel the wind through your hair after being cooped up in a dark room for a couple years, being experimented on and genetically providing the foundation upon which a controversial mutant cure can be built (against your wishes). This should do the trick. Awesome add, Eranga! Congrats!

Thanks, Jason! Fully agree that the type is what holds this image together and gives it maximum impact. As I mentioned above in my response to Chris Snorek above - it's cinematic!

I say this sounds like an addict talking."Put all my money on dangerous page spread at 100 to 1." Or maybe an incurable disease."Doctor, are...are, are you saying I have DPS. An incurable case of Dangerous Page Spread."

Congrats, Eranga! All things considered, this is a great DPS with the whole team at a reasonable price. I was tempted by this as well but was saving up for the Astonishing X-Men piece on ComicLink (which I also lost).

Thanks, Kin! And bummer to hear about the ComicLink piece :( All told it actually went lower than I thought it would considering it was a cover (if we're thinking of the same piece?)

Yep, that was the one. I thought it would go higher too and was ready for it, but my last second bid didn't make it in time :/

FOMO be FOMO, it made me pull the trigger on a Cassaday page lately, but this DPS is superb. A jewel in a regal collection.
