Description

Leila is so incredible, and I wish I had more of her artwork. She isn't afraid of the risque. The raw sexuality of her work is neither gratuitous nor vulgar. This piece is tame, but the overt and covert messaging is what makes it so brilliant. I wanted the Phoenix seducing Jean as her former self. A ghost wreathed in flames floating above her. I felt like evoking a lot of 20s era drinking advertising with green fairies, etc. Leila also delivers with brilliant and striking color work. This piece is a fiery beacon. I had a couple other prompts to consider and I've always wanted to go back and see how Leila would handle them. I also love her Catwoman Ice-cream bar piece and would love a Jean, Phoenix, Emma riff on that.
