Thank you Peter! A jewel in the collection for sure.
Eranga!! TY! When I saw your piece for OAX I wanted to scream that this was coming, but Tom finished maybe a week or two afterward. Made me think I was on to something since you're out here also laying down massive pieces that blow everyone's minds.
Dan, a superb piece from John Amor. This was one of the pieces that convinced me to go after a commission from him.
West, thank you! One should never underestimate Doom! I was adamant about him possessing the cosmic cube and the Odinforce, as such, he's incredibly formidable here. Whether he's a Doombot while the real Doom looks on... I'll never tell. Does give me a terrific idea though...
Tina, this is a gorgeous piece. <3 SCEMMA! I love that this costume is fresh but also classic. It feels timeless. A wonderful piece.
I told Tom, I hope that he isn't haunted by the endless Doombot faces. I guess Doom has some pretty good scientists and engineers.
Thank you. It was quite the task finalizing the list in my own mind. I would be lying if I said I didn't keep a running list of characters I'd love to see in similar fashion. I love how Nightcrawler makes two appearances.
Daniel D, thank you. Our boy DD is holding it down in this one!
I love the distortion of his to denote speed and strength, and the overall rocky girth! It's exceptionally colorful which is awesome to see as Pepe watercolors are rarer. Seeing a little sneak peek of this was cool too. Great pick up Chris! Cheers to Pepe, TGR, and Iciar.
Epic and I love that you got it colored as well! I'd love to see more commissions get that kind of loving treatment.
Amen! Tom takes whatever character you give him, nothing else, and then goes wild. He always goes way above and beyond on every piece. Their complexity, number of added characters, and the density of the composition is just staggering!
Happy Superman Day!
I love how annoying Clark is, haha. Am I a nerd because I like news reporter and attorney alter ego storylines?
Great use of lighting and the flashlights/ spot lighting. A great use of the clock to separate the action. Makes me think back to another Superman panel which is so close to this wherein the henchmen pass by a garden light as they cut through a fence. Has similar moody lighting.
Nice piece ML.
Ha! Kavi, we keep deleting and replying to each other. Thank you, again. I'm glad you love UA too. Thousands of hours for real. We maxed every character. Such an absurb game, fighting Fing Fang Foom then going to Asgard and the Skrull Homeworld. I think I kept my save files on a drive when I sold the 360 ages ago.
You're never too old to be down with the sickness! It really is a sick awesome piece, thank you.
Damn I need a piece by Harvey! So visceral and the color pop is excellent.
The odds do seem stacked against them! I am assessing whether I can make a new wall.
Absolutely spectacular! The framing creates that feeling of the walls closing it, but the composition doesn't lean too dark utlizing the moonlight. The bats give it such energy. I also like how Batman is almost all black and Joker almost completely white.
I love that you love that it's symbiote Spidey! That was my favorite Spider-Man costume in the game. Easily could've gone for his regular suit or anything else, but I feel like the black suit works best for an illegal raid into Latveria to stop Dr. Doom from ending the universe.
Exactly! Well said, Marcus. It's amazing getting to have that real brainwave/connection with an artist who can so clearly execute the vision.
Some people say "size is everything."
More than a couple handfuls. It took up my whole kitchen counter when I unpacked it. No idea how I'm gonna fit it on the wall either...
Only midly... you never cease to divert me Newell.
Thank you Rich! It feels unreal!
Pretty darn epic! Seeing you picking this up in person was quite the treat. May we all have the chance to commission the great and powerful Simone, one day!
Von is exceptional! But how could you Bill, Wolverine our sworn rival?
Ryan did a terrific job. The sparkles really pop. Scott's tall and commanding in this one. A great gift, thanks Alberto!
It's magic Magik! I love the pinky out on the sword and Nate captured the lighting from the sword very well. It’s got great movement. A terrific piec.
Ha! Frankly scarlet I need "more passion, more energy, more energy!"
Great pick up Matt.
This is such a gorgeous card. I snagged a peek at it before you picked it up at OAX. Totally awesome. Ruvel is great!
Bill, I'm so happy we could join forces in person at OAX '26. I tried for something more evenly matched, but you got the full Derick Jones treatment. I like to imagine Cyclops "doth spoke ill of thine mother!"
This will make a good addition to the office wall. I'm so glad you enjoy it. The question is, what would the reverse look like?
Derick is impressive because he'll pencil the piece, paint the colors in gouache, then re-pencil, then ink. It's almost three total passes on putting it all together. This piece makes me afraid to go to the dentist.
I asked Derick to make it more evenly matched; however, Derick, being Derick, went "for the head."
Peter! I love where your head is at. ; )
Clone, Life Model Decoy, Time-lost doppleganger, Dream/Nightmare, Android, or Mimic/Mystique.
I see we both got a Maxi piece at OAX. Could be fraternal twins. Looks like your piece and mine could interconnect.
"Big Dreams, Small Wallet"
"Too Many Commissions, Too Little Time"
"One Last Commission, I Swear!"
"Will work for OA!"
"I went to OAX, and all I got was this T-shirt, 7 Commissions, 4 DPS, 12 interiors, 1 splash, 1 cover, 39 sketch cards, and a plate of Zingers"
Me too! This is definitely a forever banger in the collection now. I also want to see Max draw Marvel Girl, again, and again.
He is simply delightful. I learned about his career and his methods. We spoke about his auction piece, as well. I really want to zero in on the perfect commission idea for him. I also hope I can fund a new mini electric fan for him.
Thanks, Kavi. This was a complete surprise but a welcome one nonetheless. He could just do a piece with only celestial bodies similar to his surfer piece and it would hit just as hard.
Drew is operating on a whole new level lately. He's embracing himself in a whole new way. I've never been more excited about his work. Wait till you see Ruby Summers!
When you look at the scan on your phone, the patterns and hatching freak the phone out. It's so trippy. Especially on John's X-Men piece.
Thanks, Kavi. It's of the same era for sure. I think it's probably something done for early production, but they couldn't vet it that way. I just love that the pattern on the jacket is hand-drawn. HA has its hooks into me.
