DescriptionIt's been such a treat to see Carlos Dearmas' unique and beautifully drawn work over the past few years come out of Columbia and in Argentina. His artistic voice hit me loudly and I can't get enough of it, so please excuse me while I take a moment to wax poetic about his work.I've loved seeing his highly detailed takes on comic characters that many have shared on CAF. I've also deeply enjoyed seeing the introspection and emotion in his personal work, as well as, his work in anthologies and various literary and graphic novel covers. I'm excited to share one of my favorite recent pieces from Dearmas. This is Dearmas' cover artwork for Oficio Al Medio (Essays on Comics Vol 2), which was published by Rabdomantes Edicione in 2024. This piece somehow transports me to both collecting as a kid and as an adult. It's that feeling of being with friends and discovering new things together. It's a feeling of belonging and community. Frankly it reminds me of many of the friends I've made here on CAF and being able to enjoy our shared passion at events like OAX. I mean, isn't that an excited Tyler T wearing shades inside and Daryl R sporting a Batman Suit?!?! You all rule. Thank you to Carlos for creating such beautiful work. Social/Sharing |

Really fantastic piece. Carlos goes from strength the strength, and, as you say, the Dearmas devil is clearly in the details. An endlessly fascinating artwork.

I've been really impressed by/from the limited amount of Carlos' work that I've seen on CAF and this is no different! love the detailed linework and little easter eggs built into this image. congrats!

I like that he drew this from his own experience being in a comic store where those were the titles he grew up with that resonate throughout multiple generations.

This is absolutely stunning. Dearmas has such an incredible way of capturing atmosphere and emotion. The level of linear detail in combination with the outstanding lighting technique is just mesmerizing, and I love how it evokes that timeless feeling of discovery and camaraderie from my younger years at the comic shop. I totally understand why this piece speaks to you so much, George. What an amazing acquisition!
