DescriptionThis is the Jack Kamen art for the fourth page of the story "Second Childhood" that appeared in Weird Fantasy #16 (4) (EC 1950). This page tells most of the story. A scientist wants to marry his younger assistant, but he wants to get younger so they can make a "perfect couple". He invents a hormone that can make him younger. He injects himself with it and stops the injections when he gets young enough. However, his spleen keeps producing the hormone on its own and he keeps getting younger even though he wants to stop the age regression. The story ends with his new wife holding him when he is back to being a baby, thus the title of the story.Social/Sharing |

Stunning page by Jack Kamen! Kamen does a fantastic job of telling this story visually. I love the the way he starts this page with the long shot from outside the skylight on the roof. Then he cuts to a closeup of the couple, then pulls back to a wide shot of them. Then he cuts to a scene days later when they're getting married, and so on. It's all very cinematic. It's almost like an episode of The Twilight Zone--storytelling reduced to the most important elements without a lot of extraneous detail. Gorgeous inks, by the way. The linework is smooth and sleek with some crosshatching as necessary and spot blacks where they're needed. Fantastic page, congrats!
