Description

This isn't the first piece in the sketchbook, however it seems fitting to post. I initially though this was from SDCC 2004 but realized it might have been from WonderCon. It's been over 20 years. But the story doesn't change, Jim was nothing but kind to me. He didn't have to talk to me, some random kid studying illustration. He didn't have to do this sketch. He did anyway. I've only met Jim Lee that one time, but it was one of the best experiences with an artist.

Same here. I had one direct interaction with him sometime in the late 90s. A friend took me around behind his table while he was signing at a con. She introduced me as an art collector. He tried to talk to me about my art tastes, but it was a difficult conversation to have while he was signing, so he asked for my number. I never imagined he would ever call, but about a week later he did. I honestly cannot remember any part of the conversation because it was honestly all a blur (plus it was almost 30 years ago). Very, very, pleasant and down to earth guy. Anyway, great sketch Anna!

That's awesome! Pure Jim Lee in artistry and kindness. As one of the biggest names of the industry even back then, he makes sure put the fans ahead of himself. This has a lot of the European influences from his time there and hot on the work on the Hush storyline!
