Description

Ryan Sook doesn't get to paint often but enjoys doing it. So when it came time to create some art to benefit the Hero Initiative he decided to get his paint on with some portraits of characters from popular movies. This one features Ryan Gosling as "The Driver" from the 2011 film, 'Drive'.

Sook delivers a striking likeness with a palette that emulates the pervasive neon lighting from the film. This small painting (4x4) is so good that I can hear some of the tracks from the outstanding soundtrack of the film. Songs like 'Tick of the Clock' by The Chromatics and 'Nightcall' by Kavinsky.

Drive was a great flick! Ryan does a great job with Gosling's likeness and incorporating a color pallette direct from the film and it's key visuals/marketing images.

You want to see more with that gold satin jacket and scorpion on it. This is a departure from what we've seen from any of Sook's prior painting efforts before and it. This result is fantastic to capture the neon light feel of the movie when he's just driving at night in LA.
