DescriptionThis is the first piece of art I ever purchased directly from Jeff! He put it up for sale at the Fall 2022 Comic Art Live, and I was lucky enough to snag it.What's neat about this piece is that I've come to appreciate it a lot more in the time since I first purchased it. I was very much a Star Wars fan growing up, and so my knowledge of Star Trek was fairly limited. In fact, reading the ST/LSH crossover series was really my first proper introduction to the characters and world of the Original Series. At the time I bought this page, the main draw was the interaction between Spock and Brainiac 5, since even though I wasn't very familiar with Spock's character, I enjoyed watching him and Brainy work together one moment and get fed up with each other the next. Since then, though, I've become an enormous fan of the Original Series, and Spock has - unsurprisingly - become my favourite character from it. Now, this page means so much more to me, because it features two of my favourite characters of all time trying to solve a problem (and clashing a little bit in the process). Apart from the sentimental value of this page, it's also a beautiful demonstration of Jeff's ability to capture likenesses (for Spock, especially), and a great example of how he tweaked his usual style so that the Legionnaires wouldn't look out of place next to the Enterprise crew, even without any real actors to use as reference. I also love the detail of Bones and Chekov playing tic-tac-toe in the dirt to pass the time, and the way the shadows from the wooden lattice are drawn on the walls. Also, this page was not only penciled by Jeff Moy, but inked by his twin brother, Phil! I'm glad to have an example of how well they work together as an art team. You can see Jeff's pencils for this page, prior to being inked over by Phil, in the additional images gallery. Social/Sharing |

Thanks! It's definitely a neat idea for a crossover. I imagine it came about because Star Trek and the Legion comics both take place in generally ideal, optimisitic futures. This crossover had both teams end up trapped in a dystopian future, trying to restore their normal utopian ones.
