Description

Due to my forgetfulness, Fred Friday is now Fred Saturday!

I am posting FOUR Fred Hembeck sketch cards tonight!
All four members of the 2013 Fantastic Four team led by Scott Lang (Ant-Man).

In 2013, the Fantastic Four embarked on a journey across time and space.

Reed approached Scott Lang, Ant-Man, to lead a replacement team.

The Thing naturally asked She-Hulk to take his place, since Jennifer Walters had already filled in for Ben Grimm during John Byrne's run on Fantastic Four.

Medusa was chosen by the Invisible Woman, since both were powerful leaders within their respective families.

Characteristically, the Human Torch put off finding a replacement until the night before leaving. Hastily, Johnny Storm asked his then-girlfriend, Darla Deering, an ordinary woman, to take his place. Given a mechanical Thing suit, Darla became Ms. Thing.

What more can I do, I'm The Thing I haven't tried
Still it's so hard for her to notice
I've tried cards, Four's a straight
There's nothing left I can say
If only She Hulk looks my way

She Hulk sees me, she don't care

She don't want me like I want her
Like I want her got Fred draw her
Got to tell her that I love Four
That I love Four
She doesn't even know card games

Right on!! I really enjoyed this fun run. Matt Fraction picked up the baton from Jonathan Hickman after the latter's all-time classic run on Fantastic Four and FF, and turned both titles into something new and different. Matt left the title before we were able to see his vision for the big story finish he had been building up to (which was a heartbreak for me), but it was a fun time to be an FF (both iterations) fan, for sure. Incredibly special to have Hembeck portraits of the team from this era, Paul! LOVE these!
