DescriptionStar Wars: Legacy (Vol. 2) #16 Pg. 12Art by Brian Thies Written by Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman "I Couldn't Make A Lightsaber. So I Made The Next Best Thing." I couldn't pass up a true sword fight scene in a lightsaber fight universe! Here's an ink washy stylish page by artist Brian Thies, from issue 16 of volume 2 of Star Wars: Legacy released by Dark Horse Comics in 2014 (no longer canon and now considered "Legends"). The rogue Sith, Dark Wredd, tells a story about his youth and home world Mala to the Imperial Knight Jao Assam (whom he is targeting as his new sith apprentice). Unable to receive proper Jedi training for his force sensitivity (and unable to build a lightsaber as a result), he still followed Jedi ideals and became the defender and protector of his people against the Schor-Goya (a barbarian humanoid people of Mala who wore the skulls of a Bull-like creature as helmets) with a traditional sword. Not explained on this specific page, but he would later lose his people and home planet to the One Sith (New Sith Order) after they used his planet to test a new bioweapon. His life was spared only for him to join the New Sith Order as an apprentice himself. Social/Sharing |

I do so love Brian's brush work from his run on this short lived series. I never get tired of seeing them when they appear on CAF. That issue's detailed flashback as the Sith baddy recounts his life story sets up the last motivational chess piece of all the primary characters as they and the series collide in the two-part series finale that follows.

Wtf? Gabriel Hardman writing but not drawing? Cool to see Thies art again, who I was introduced to via Jeff's Star Wars month posts from previous years. Nice to see you branch out away from Star Wars for a change and get into the Conan universe, btw!
