DescriptionStar Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3POAnimated Series, Animation Illustration (pencils) of C-3PO and R2-D2 Episode 11, The Roon Games Produced/Animated by Nelvana Limited (on behalf of Lucasfilm Animation) Episode 11 Directed by Ken Stephenson & Raymond Jafelice Episode 11 Story by Ben Burtt Episode 11 Teleplay by Gordon Kent & Peter Sauder Airdate: November 16, 1985 "Star Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO" is a 1985 animated television series spin off from the original Star Wars trilogy. It focuses on the exploits of droids R2-D2 and C-3PO prior to the original 1977 Star Wars film (A New Hope). The series was produced by Nelvana on behalf of Lucasfilm and broadcast on ABC with its sister series Ewoks (as part of The Ewoks and Droids Adventure Hour). The series ran for one season of 13 half-hour episodes, followed by an hour-long special broadcast in 1986 that served as the series finale. Anthony Daniels reprised his role voicing C-3PO in the series. Episode synopsis: Having escaped, Mungo, C-3PO and R2-D2 once again make their way for the planet Roon, but it turns out that they have not seen the last of General Koong, a de facto governor desperate to win the support of the Empire. With a recently wrapped up Star Wars Celebration from Japan, the season premiere episodes of Andor Season 2 debuting this week (which I loved), and Star Wars month approaching soon I'm in a Star Wars kinda mood all of a sudden! Once I saw Jeff Wedding share something to get the party started early, I felt like doing the same! Specifically when it comes to upcoming Star Wars animation projects I am excited about what's in store for Star Wars fans. Tales Of The Underworld drops on May 4th and Star Wars: Visions Season 3 drops in October. The freshly announced Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi spinoff limited series will come out in 2026, and the freshly announced animated series featuring my favorite Sith Darth Maul titled "Maul: Shadow Lord" also will come out in 2026. The future of Star Wars animation is more exciting than ever. Social/Sharing |

If anyone wants to fall down the rabitt hole with us, Kavi hosted a great primer on early Star Wars animation art, which I was honored to sit in for. Has it really been 3 years?

When I watched Droids back in the day, I wasn't a fan of the character designs, especially Threepio. Now, I just find them incredibly charming...as this piece shows. Love the great droid body language.

These *are* the droids you're looking for. Fun animation illustration starring two of filmdom's most beloved characters!

Those two animated series never made it in French so I never watched them at the time but I would have loved them back when, as most children I wanted more SW of any kind. Fun post.
