Description

John Byrne

Memorable cover from the 90s Namor series by John Byrne. This story spanned issues 4 and 5. A submarine super-tanker was sabotaged causing a huge oil spill. Issue 4 ended with Namor drowning in the oil. In issue 5, Iron Man saves Namor and the spill is contained with help from the FF. Soon after, the spill is set fire. With help from a few "Therma-Rays"/fire-eating manta rays, summoned by Namor, the fire is quenched. Reed from FF wanted to study a therma-ray, but, Namor was having none of that. Good stuff!

It's interesting John put the title in the UPC box. I also like the note on how to print his signature. I really enjoyed how this series touched on environmental issues like this cover shows. Thank you Mr. Byrne for your fantastic Namor The Submariner stories and artwork!

This is fantastic as Byrne reminds us why there are compelling stories to be told and many reasons why Namor is still one of the most important characters in the history of Marvel comics.
