Description

Another grail!

The Grasscutter storyline was originally released from August 1997 (in Usagi Yojimbo #13) and reprinted as a collected edition in September 1999 with this iconic cover image to Usagi Yojimbo Volume 12, collecting the issues of the first Grasscutter storyline captured in Usagi Yojimbo #13 to #22 and won the 1999 Eisner Award for "Best Serialized Story", also published in The Art of Usagi Yojimbo (2004) and Usagi Yojimbo: 35 Years of Covers.

The storyline was collected into the Usagi Yojimbo: "The Complete Grasscutter" Artist Select edition winning the 2020 Eisner Award for "Best Archival/Collection Project - Comic Books".

Stan is renowned for his lettering, winning many awards over the years and draws his comics with pencils and inks, to be able to have one of his few and (according to Stan) one of his last oil paintings (because they took him so long to do) for such an iconic storyline, is truly lucky.

We are honoured to have this on our walls, especially in this 40th year since Usagi first appeared in November 1984 and 25 years since this storyline was published as a collected edition where this art graced it's cover.
