DescriptionOn pages 70-73, they find a series of empty tubes, all labeled "Xenia" with different serial numbers. Video screens show various Xenia doppelgängers going about their routines. Doctor Loveless' hologram reappears to explain: “But what is this place?” “A place you should never have come. Not alive, at least.” “Mom?” “You've been a very naughty girl, Xenia. As punishment, tonight, you'll go to bed without dinner.” “You… you're not my mother, are you? You've always lied to me!” “Of course I'm your mother, darling. Yours… and all the others!” “But those girls… they’re all like me!” “Sure, honey. You are them, and they are you. You are all the same person… or, rather, a copy of the same person.” “Clones.” “What? No!” “Why, Doctor Loveless? To what end?” “You don't get it, Agent Never? I'm not surprised. You're only human. But Xenia is different. Her brain was created in a lab. She can solve problems that would take others decades to solve. When she's awake, she spends her time in idle pastimes and elementary games. But when she's asleep, she expresses her full potential.” “…The portable holographic projector.” Nathan is referring to a machine into which Xenia stares while she sleeps. It entrances her so thoroughly that she cannot hear loud noises around her. This explains why Harry was so adamant about Xenia’s bedtime. I bet each Xenia is on a different sleep schedule so the processing work can continue around the clock. Fun fact: one human brain has 500 trillion synapses. All the computers in the world combined could not model one brain. The last panel is a stat from page 46. Social/Sharing |

this is a lot less wholesome than when Kal-El speaks to his parents through holographic projections in the fortress of solitude.
