Description

Prior to its publication in book form late in 1965, Frank Herbert's classic novel, "Dune," appeared as two separate serials in Analog. The first of these, "Dune World," ran from December 1963 through February 1964; the second, "Prophet of Dune", ran from January 1965 through May 1965. The two serials were then combined by Herbert to create "Dune." The interior art for these was created by John Schoenherr, who also provided several covers for various installments.

Our friendly neighborhood UPS man delivered this today. By Schoenherr, it's the title page illustration for the first installment of "Dune World," published in the December 1963 issue of Analog. It illustrates a scene where the Baron Harkonnen is spinning a globe of Arrakis.

Incredible part of history for Schoenherr to interpret and define these scenes for others who still follow all these years later.
