DescriptionNow for something completely different! I always loved Jaime Hernandez work on Love & Rockets and the ladies wrestling art in particular. Having picked up his Whoa Nellie compilations in recent years I saw a bunch of these action pages popping up for auction, and the prices weren't as high as vintage L&R pages. This style of art and subject matter are quite a departure from my normal superhero in costume fare. But when the opportunity presents itself it's always good to broaden our horizons! Jaime is a master storyteller with flowing panels! His style is a mixture of realistic poses with a touch of cartoony expressions enhanced by his clean line work!Social/Sharing |

Is that the pain from the blunt force trauma due to the knee to the head I'm feeling? Oh wait....Nope, it's justthe effect of the stroke I'm currently experiencing due to theshock of seeing this page in YOUR collection!

It's easy to get labeled in this hobby by the majority of art we own of a singular artist or title. Sometimes finances allow us to only focus on a small portion of what we desire to collect as we grapple with the pieces that passed us by. I didn't mean to fly off the top ropes and drop kick you with this purchase that I pinned down. But I'm glad you were floored by the outcome.

Jaime is a ring general controlling the action with the heel doing the dirty moves until the babyface finally has had enough to get the crowd roaring again!

Doesn't have a single one of his Locas characters that Jaime is famous for but the page really does showcase so many of his strengths as an artist and storyteller: impeccable figure work and characters who really register the impact of the action taking place on the page.
