DescriptionIn a story reminiscent of The Island of Dr. Moreau, the muties arrive at Dr. Animus' island. Bird boy is more human than he realizes, and can't leave his ani-mate friends to suffer on the island. The New Mutants think they can help, but as usual they bit off a bit more than they can chew. They're beaten and captured - will they be able to escape and save the day when nobody knows where they're at!?The first time I remember seeing Kyle's work was on the Annihilation: Conquest - Wraith series. Thoroughly enjoyed that mini, and always thought he had a similar vibe to Blevins, although darker. So an issue full of monsters seemed right up his alley. Couldn't be happier with the depth and inks on this, truly capturing the menacing tone of this issue. 11x17. Social/Sharing |

The brushwork is amazing as Hotz shows he can draw natural looking fur and hair to make them terrifying on these demons.

I completely agree that Hotz is a great and darker stylist as Belvins can be, making him a great fit for this subject.

I've never associated Hotz' work with Blevins', but I see a strong Blevins influence in this piece, specifically in the figures of the two mutants at the bottom. Really beautiful work!

His teachers told him he wouldn't succeed but he really made something out of himself.

Perfect choice to get the hot Hotz treatment! Eerily good stuff, Andre, congrats! And I can see the Blevins connection you mentioned. Another fave or yours and mine.

Wonderfully macabre. Has an almost Kelley Jones vibe to it.
