Description

Here is a page from one of the best of the Spanish artists of his generation. In addition to paperback covers and comic work for the European market, Fernandez also did a lot of work on Warren titles. This page is from what I consider his best work. It was a 10 page story he did for the Spanish market and was a story with two parallels. One of a matador and a bull and the second of a woman and a man in a deadly dance. The fight and the dance parallel each other and we are near the climax where it seems the Matador and man will triumph... The mix of dry brush work and heavy inks along with the delicate line work is characteristic of Fernandez best pages. 13 x 18. I first saw these pages in the apartment of his widow in Barcelona over a decade ago and fell in love with them. At the time she was not parting with any of those pages and years later I found them for sale through her son.
