I'm not sure but I think the art was rendered in gouache....
Gorgoeous colors. Peter Elson's work has a quality of silence to it... you feel like if you are quiet, you can almost hear the figures breathing or the wind whispering through. I wish I could've met him before he passed. I can imagine him being a gentle soul.

Yes, it is goauche. You are absolutely right about Elson's work. It has a transcendent quality to it. Peter thought of each painting as a special part of him. Were it not for his untimely passing, he never would have sold a single of his works. It is a great privelige to own one of his original works. Your piece is fantastic!
