Description

Gouache on board image about 15.5x12.5 monogram signature in the bottom left-hand corner, HWM. likely painted 1961-1963 When McCauley was a company artist for Martin Marietta Corporation,*he was employed there until his passing in 1977 An aerospace company later becomes Lockheed Martin) further research indicates large x (using tape) on the back meaning is "cancelled" A two stage rocket with sample collecting apparatus on the surface of the moon. *the rocket is landing, when taking off, the top portaion would separate into the capsule for return trip to earth.
